COLLEGE PARK, Md./WASHINGTON D.C.-Duke University senior Voris Tejada posted a pair of wins at 174 pounds to lead the Blue Devil wrestling team in a pair of tough dual matches at No. 7 Maryland and at American University. Duke fell to Maryland 32-9 in the day's opening match and finished the day off with a 38-7 setback to the Eagles.
Tejada was Duke's lone double winner on the weekend as the Blue Devils fell to 2-5 overall and 0-3 in ACC action.
The match against Maryland started at 125 pounds with Duke sophomore Peter Terrezza giving the Blue Devils the early advantage as he posted a 10-4 decision over Pat Strizki. The win was Terrezza's 12th of the season and pushes his ACC record to 2-1 overall.
Maryland came back at 133 pounds and registered a technical fall to go ahead 5-3 after two bouts. At 141 pounds, junior Mike Bell turned in a valiant effort, losing in an 11-5 decision as the Terps pushed their advantage to 8-3.
Moving into the 149-pound division for the first time this season, freshman Chris Piccolella added another win to his season total with a 6-2 decision over Dex Lederer to make it an 8-6 match.
Leading by just two after four contests, Maryland earned 12 points with forfeits in the next two matches before senior Voris Tejada came back at 174 pounds with an 8-3 decision. The win is the 91st of his career, moving him into a tie for sixth on Duke's career wins list. He is just the seventh wrestler in Duke history to reach the 90-win plateau in his career.
Maryland controlled the remaining three matches. Redshirt freshman Diego Bencomo was handed his first dual match loss this season in a tough 7-3 decision against Corey Peltier.
The final two Blue Devils wrestled up one weight class. Redshirt senior John Barone battled hard, but the No. 3 wrestler in the nation in Hudson Taylor earned the six-point fall. Robert Holbrook battled at heavyweight, falling to Patrick Gilmore in an 8-2 decision to give Maryland the 32-9 victory.
Later in the evening at American, the Blue Devils got wins from Tejada and Barone and 174 and 197 pounds, respectively.

Terrezza responded with an escape, but was unable to get another point as Borshoff came away with the win.
The Eagles quickly built up a 29-0 lead in the overall match, registering a pin at 133 pounds, a decision at 141 pounds and a technical fall at 149 pounds. A pair of forfeits in the next two weight divisions quickly made it 29-0.
