Zsilinszka and Nze Advance to Singles Second Round

PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. - Reka Zsilinska and Ellah Nze advanced to the second round of the singles main draw at the Riviera/ITA Women's All-American Championship on Thursday, Oct. 7. The Duke pair of Nadine Fahoum and Nze advanced to the second round of the doubles main draw following their opening match win.
Duke's Reka Zsilinszka won her final qualifying match on Thursday to advance to the main draw of the singles tournament. Zsilinszka won her match in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2, over Nadja Gilchrist from Georgia. Following her qualifying finals match, Zsilinszka won her opening main draw singles match against Danielle Lao from Southern California by a score of 6-3, 6-1. Zsilinszka will face off against Mari Andersson from California in the second round of the singles main draw on Friday at 3:30 p.m. (EST).
Nze will join Zsilinszka in the second round of the singles main draw following her opening match win over 19th-ranked Allison Ramos from Southern California by a score of 6-4, 6-4. Nze is scheduled to play against Denise Dy, the fifth overall seed, from Washington on Friday at 3:30 p.m. (EST).
Duke's Mary Clayton fell in her opening round match in the singles main draw by a score of 6-4, 6-4 to 18th-ranked Anouk Tigu from Arkansas. Clayton is scheduled to play in the main draw of the singles consolation bracket beginning on Friday.
The Duke pair of Nze and Fahoum advanced to the next round of the doubles main draw following a win over the Georgia duo of Nadja Gilchrist and Lilly Kimbell by a score of 8-5. The Blue Devil pair will square off against the second-seed pair of Alexa Guarachi and Courtney McLane from Alabama on Friday, Oct. 8, at noon (EST).
The Blue Devil duo of Monica Gorny and Clayton fell in their opening doubles match to Valeira Paludo and Alison Ramos from Southern California by a score of 8-4. Gorny and Clayton will play in the main draw consolation tournament beginning on Friday.
