Duke Hosts UNC Wilmington Prior to Christmas Break..
In its final contest prior to the Christmas holiday, the ninth-ranked Duke women's basketball team (7-2) will host UNC Wilmington (5-4) on Tuesday, Dec. 20 at 7:00 p.m., in Cameron Indoor Stadium. The Blue Devils are coming off exam break as Duke hasn't had a contest since Dec. 11.
Duke will be off for Christmas break until Dec. 27 as the Blue Devils will have practice that evening before traveling to Temple for a contest on Dec. 30.

Noting Duke...
Duke has won 14 consecutive games at home against non-conference teams ... eight different Blue Devils have registered double-figure scoring so far on the season ... Duke is the reigning back-to-back ACC Champion and has won a total of seven ACC Championships.
At Home in 2011-12...
The Blue Devils have posted a 4-0 record at home this season and boast three double-digit scorers in those contests -- Elizabeth Williams (15.3), Chloe Wells (13.0) and Haley Peters (12.8). Williams has averaged 15.3 points, 12.0 rebounds, 3.5 blocks, 1.8 assists and 1.8 steals in those contests, while hitting 47.2 percent of her field goals.

A Look At UNC Wilmington...
The Seahawks enter Tuesday's matchup with an overall record of 5-4 after defeating Charleston Southern, 72-70, on Friday, Dec. 16. Alisha Andrews (14.7 points, 2.9 rebounds), Karneshia Garrett (11.3 points, 8.1 rebounds) and Tawanna Lee (10.0 points, 3.0 rebounds) are all averaging double figure scoring for UNCW.
Head coach Cynthia Cooper-Dyke is in her second year at the helm of the program after leading the Seahawks to the WNIT last season.
The Series With UNC Wilmington...
Duke and UNC Wilmington will face off for the ninth time in program history and the first time since 1992. In the teams' last meeting on Dec. 1, 1992, the Blue Devils notched an 88-52 victory in Cameron Indoor Stadium to take a 6-2 lead in the series. Duke also leads the series, 5-0, in games played in Cameron Indoor.
Tuesday's contest will mark head coach Joanne P. McCallie's first game against the Seahawks in her career.
Duke Versus the Colonial Athletic Association...
• The Blue Devils are 38-8 all-time against Colonial Athletic Association teams -- Delaware (1-0), George Mason (3-0), Georgia State (1-1), Hofstra (2-0), James Madison (6-1), UNC Wilmington (6-2), Northeastern (2-0), Old Dominion (7-3), VCU (6-1) and William & Mary (4-0).
• McCallie owns a ledger of 76-13 all-time against CAA members.
Storylines/Other Blue Devil Notes...
• Haley Peters has averaged 15.0 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.0 steals and 1.0 blocks the last two games, including matching a career high against USC Upstate with 17 points. She also had nine boards, three steals and one blocked shot in only 23 minutes. Peters has hit 12-of-20 field goals in those two contests for a 60.0 percentage.
• Duke is coming off shooting a season-high 59.7 percent from the field against USC Upstate and also posting a season-best 23 steals. The Spartans were held to only three second half field goals in the game.
• The Blue Devils' 59.7 percent shooting from the field was the highest for the Duke team since Coach P took over the program in 2007-08.
• Sophomore Tricia Liston has notched a team-best three contests with 19 or more points - 23 vs. Gardner-Webb, 22 vs. Western Kentucky and 19 against Pittsburgh.
• Freshman Elizabeth Williams owns 28 blocked shots in only nine contests. She is only one swat away from moving into a tie for 10th on the Duke freshman single-season blocks list -- Allison Vernerey (2009-10) and Alison Bales (2003-04).
• Duke currently boasts four Blue Devils averaging double-figure scoring -- Williams (13.6), Gray (10.1), Wells (10.3) and Haley Peters (10.0). Tricia Liston (9.9) is almost at that mark as well.
• Both Chelsea Gray (13) and Chloe Wells (9) each have dished eight or more assists in a game this season. It marks the first time since the 2005-06 campaign that two or more Duke players have dished eight or more assists in a game -- Lindsey Harding (8), Monique Currie (11), Abby Waner (10) and Wanisha Smith (11).
• Heading into the season, Duke's eight returning letterwinners own 83 career starts, while 2011 graduates Jasmine Thomas, Krystal Thomas and Karima Christmas totaled 237 starts over the last four years.
• The Blue Devils feature nine freshmen and sophomores on the roster in 2011-12, which is the most since Duke had 10 on the roster in 2000-01.
• The average age of Duke's squad this season is 19 years old. This is the youngest since the 2000-01 squad that had an average age of 18.2.
• Over the last 12 years, Duke owns the third-most wins in the nation -- Connecticut (388), Tennessee (350) and Duke (341) through games of 12/19.
• Duke lost 45.8 percent of its scoring from a year ago with the graduation of Jasmine Thomas, Krystal Thomas and Karima Christmas. All three were selected in the 2011 WNBA Draft.

Youngest Starting Five...
• The Blue Devils boast the youngest starting five of any teams ranked in the Associated Press Top 25 with four sophomores and one freshman.
• Other teams with young lineups are Maryland (3 So., 1 Jr., 1 R-Sr.), Louisville (2 Fr., 2 So., 1 Sr.), Vanderbilt (3 So., 1 Fr., 1 Jr.) and Oklahoma (3 So., 2 Jr.).
Williams Posts Stellar Shooting...
• In the last contest against USC Upstate, freshman center Elizabeth Williams hit all 10 of her field goal attempts, which is the second-best field goal percentage in school history. The record is 12-of-12 by Sheana Mosch on Jan. 28, 2001 versus Clemson.
• Overall, Williams has hit 11 straight field goals dating back to the Kentucky game.
Talented Sophomore Class...
• The five-member sophomore class continues to perform well for the Blue Devils as they have scored 62.7 percent of the team's points on the season (426 of 679). Four (Richa Jackson, Chelsea Gray, Chloe Wells and Haley Peters) are currently starting, while Tricia Liston is one of the first subs off the bench.
• All five of the sophomores are the second through fifth-highest scorers on the team -- Gray (10.1), Liston (9.9), Wells (10.3), Peters (10.0) and Jackson (7.0).
Williams Named Rookie of the Week Again...
• For the second time over the last three weeks, Duke University freshman Elizabeth Williams was named the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Rookie of the Week on Dec. 12 by a vote of the Blue Ribbon Panel.
• Williams averaged 19.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.0 steals, 1.5 assists and 1.0 blocks on the week as the Blue Devils split their two contests. The Virginia Beach, Va., native also hit 18-of-24 field goals for a 75.0 field goal percentage.
• Against USC Upstate, she hit 10-of-10 field goals, had a career-high 22 points, nine rebounds, three assists, two steals and one blocked shot. Her perfect 10-of-10 field goal mark is the second-best field goal percentage in school history.
• At 10th-ranked Kentucky, Williams totaled a team-high 17 points, six rebounds, two steals and one blocked shot, while shooting 8-of-14 field goals in the contest. On the season, Williams leads Duke with a 13.6 scoring average and 9.0 rebounds per contest.
• Williams was also named ACC Rookie of the Week on Nov. 28 and became the first Duke freshman to earn multiple ACC Rookie of the Week honors since Abby Waner in 2005-06.
