Duke Hits the Road For No. 10 Kentucky in Key Non-Conference Contest Thursday..
The sixth-ranked Duke women's basketball team (6-1) will hit the road this week as the Blue Devils will travel to Lexington, Ky., for a Thursday, Dec. 8 contest at Kentucky (8-0), which will be played in Rupp Arena. The game will be played at 6:00 p.m. It will be aired live on ESPN3.com, on CW (Lexington) and tape-delayed on Fox Sports South at 10:00 p.m.
Calling the game will be Garry Gupton (PXP), Christi Thomas (Color) and Carl Nathe (Sideline) for television. Thursday's game can also be heard live on WDNC 620 AM and on www.GoDuke.com via the Blue Devil IMG Network's Steve Barnes (PXP) and Morgan Patrick (Color).

Noting Duke...
Since Coach P joined the Blue Devils in 2007-08, Duke has registered eight wins against top 10 ranked opponents ... in games played in the state of Kentucky, Duke owns a 4-2 record, including an 80-54 win at Western Kentucky earlier this season ... Duke has won 13 consecutive games at home against non-conference teams ... eight different Blue Devils have registered double-figure scoring so far on the season ... Duke's sophomore class has scored 65 percent of the team's points on the season (336 of 521) ... Duke is the reigning back-to-back ACC Champion and has won a total of seven ACC Championships.
Good Defensive Effort...
In seven games on the season, Duke has forced 24.3 turnovers and created 200 points off those turnovers. The Blue Devils are averaging 14.6 steals a contest.
A Look At Kentucky...
The 10th-ranked Wildcats are unbeaten heading into Thursday's contest after opening the season 8-0. In its last outing, the team posted a 74-54 victory over visiting Louisville. Under the direction of head coach Matthew Mitchell, who is in his fifth season with the program, Kentucky is coming off of a second-round appearance in the 2011 NCAA Tournament while compiling an overall record of 25-9.
A'dia Mathies (16.0 points, 5.9 rebounds), Bria Goss (10.6 points, 5.6 rebounds) and Kastine Evans (10.5 points, 4.1 rebounds) are all averaging double figures through the Wildcats' first eight games of the season. As a team, Kentucky is outscoring its opponents by an average of 34.4 points per game.
The Series With Kentucky...
Duke and Kentucky will square off for the fourth time in school history with the Blue Devils leading the series, 3-0. Thursday's contest will mark the teams' first meeting in the Wildcats' Rupp Arena following a 54-48 Duke victory last season in Cameron Indoor Stadium.
Head coach Joanne P. McCallie is 2-0 in her career against the Wildcats and 1-0 since joining the Blue Devil program.
Duke Versus the SEC...
Duke owns an all-time record of 29-13 against teams from the SEC -- Alabama (0-1), Arkansas (2-1), Auburn (5-0), Florida (2-1), Georgia (3-0), Kentucky (3-0), LSU (3-2), Mississippi State (1-0), South Carolina (1-1), Tennessee (6-5), Vanderbilt (3-2).
McCallie owns an all-time mark of 10-12 against Southeastern Conference members.
Storylines/Other Blue Devil Notes...
• Sophomore Tricia Liston has notched a team-best three contests with 19 or more points - 23 vs. Gardner-Webb, 22 vs. Western Kentucky and 19 against Pittsburgh.
• Freshman Elizabeth Williams owns 26 blocked shots in only seven contests. She is only three swats away from moving into a tie for 10th on the Duke freshman single-season blocks list -- Allison Vernerey (2009-10) and Alison Bales (2003-04).
• In games on the road against ranked opponents, Duke has lost three straight contests and over the last three years has notched a 4-8 mark.
• Duke and Kentucky are two of the top teams in the nation in steals (Duke - 12th, 14.6; Kentucky - 4th, 16.6) and turnover margin (Duke - 12th, 8.57; Kentucky - 1st, 15.38).
• Duke currently boasts four Blue Devils averaging double-figure scoring -- Williams (11.9), Gray (11.1), Wells (11.1) and Tricia Liston (10.1).
• Sophomore Richa Jackson has come off the bench in all six games and is second on the team with 18 offensive rebounds.
• Both Chelsea Gray (13) and Chloe Wells (9) each have dished eight or more assists in a game this season. It marks the first time since the 2005-06 campaign that two or more Duke players have dished eight or more assists in a game -- Lindsey Harding (8), Monique Currie (11), Abby Waner (10) and Wanisha Smith (11).
• Duke snapped an 84-game streak with at least one three-pointer made against Auburn on Nov. 18. The Blue Devils were 0-of-12 for the contest. The last time Duke didn't hit a trey was on Feb. 5, 2009 vs. Virginia (W, 81-67). The Blue Devils responded in the next game hitting 6-of-17 from downtown.
• Heading into the season, Duke's eight returning letterwinners own 83 career starts, while 2011 graduates Jasmine Thomas, Krystal Thomas and Karima Christmas totaled 237 starts over the last four years.
• The Blue Devils feature nine freshmen and sophomores on the roster in 2011-12, which is the most since Duke had 10 on the roster in 2000-01.
• The average age of Duke's squad this season is 19 years old. This is the youngest since the 2000-01 squad that had an average age of 18.2.
• Over the last 12 years, Duke owns the third-most wins in the nation -- Connecticut (386), Tennessee (347) and Duke (340) through games of 12/6.
• Duke lost 45.8 percent of its scoring from a year ago with the graduation of Jasmine Thomas, Krystal Thomas and Karima Christmas. All three were selected in the 2011 WNBA Draft.

Gray Registers Triple-Double...
Sophomore Chelsea Gray registered just the fourth triple-double in school history on Sunday as the guard notched 14 points, 13 assists and 11 rebounds in 33 minutes.
The 13 assists was a new school record, breaking the previous mark of 12. Gray also added six assists and hit 5-of-7 field goals.
The triple-double was also just the 14th in ACC history. So far this season, only three other players in the NCAA have registered triple-doubles -- Victoria McGowan (Stetson) and D'shara Strange (Northern Colorado).
In the NCAA Stats...
Chelsea Gray's 13 assists versus Pittsburgh is tied for the third-most in a single game this season. The highest has been Alex Bentley (15, Penn State) and Recca Trice (14, Norfolk St.).
Chloe Wells ranks third nationally in assist-turnover ratio (4.33) and ranks only behind Megan Pearson (5.20, Villanova) and Monique Smalls (5.17, Texas Tech).
Elizabeth Williams is sixth in blocked shots (3.7) nationally and is one of only two freshmen in the top 10 of the rankings (Martha Alwal, Mississippi St. - 3.8).
As a team, Duke ranks ninth in scoring defense (48.9), eighth in blocks (6.7), 12th in steals (14.6) and 12th in turnover margin (8.57).
Gray Named ACC Player of the Week...
Chelsea Gray was named the ACC Player of the Week on Monday after posting the fourth triple-double in school history on Sunday with 14 points, 13 assists and 11 rebounds.
Gray, who is out of Stockton, Calif., totaled a school-record with her 13 assists on the afternoon as the seventh-ranked Blue Devils downed Pittsburgh, 92-43. She hit 5-of-7 field goals and 2-of-2 from downtown in 33 minutes of action, while pulling down a career-high 11 rebounds. Gray also added six steals in the contest.
Against 13th-ranked Purdue, Gray posted 11 points, seven rebounds, four assists, two blocks and three steals in 36 minutes.
For the week, Gray averaged 12.5 points, 9.0 rebounds, 8.5 assists, 4.5 steals and 1.5 blocks. She hit 52.9 percent of her field goals and 66.7 percent from downtown.
Williams Nets Record...
Freshman Elizabeth Williams pulled down a Duke freshman record 17 rebounds against Purdue on Dec. 1. She also had nine points and four blocked shots.
Williams had 10 offensive rebounds in the game, which is tied for the third-most by a Blue Devil in school history.
On the season, Williams has averaged 11.9 points, 9.4 rebounds, 3.7 blocks, 1.1 assists and 1.3 steals.
On the Road...
Duke owns a 2-0 record in road games this season with victories at Brigham Young and Western Kentucky. In those contests, the Blue Devils have hit 11-of-31 three-point field goals (35.5) and forced 28.5 turnovers.
Chelsea Gray (13.0), Chloe Wells (11.5) and Tricia Liston (11.0) have averaged double-figures.
The Blue Devils have averaged 70.5 points and held opponents to 54.5 points. Gray holds a 13-3 assist/turnover ledger.
All Starters in Double-Digit Scoring...
The Blue Devils registered all five starters with double-figure scoring against Pitt on Dec. 4.
Since 2002-03, Duke has notched five starters in double-figure scoring only 10 times now. The most recent occurrences were on Nov. 19 and Dec. 28, 2009.
