6 Wrestlers Named to All-ACC Academic Team

DURHAM, N.C.—Six Duke University wrestlers recently were selected to the 2012-13 All-Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Team as announced today by ACC Commissioner John Swofford. Trey Adamson, Brandon Gambucci, Conner Hartmann, Dylan Ryan, Brian Self and Peter Terrezza all were recognized for their work on the mat and in the classroom.
Duke's six selections to the squad are tied for the most in the conference with Virginia landing five spots. The Blue Devils had three repeat selections, including four-time choice Terrezza. Gambucci and Self both picked up their second All-ACC Academic awards, while Adamson, Hartmann and Ryan join the lineup for the first time.
Gambucci, the ACC runner-up at 133 pounds, is one of six All-ACC honorees from 2013, while he and Hartmann are two of the nine NCAA qualifiers on the list.
The ACC Scholar-Athlete of the Year awards were established in September 2007 to be awarded annually to the top junior or senior student-athlete in their respective sports. Candidates for the awards must have maintained a 3.0 grade point average for their career as well as a 3.0 for each of the last two semesters.
To be eligible for All-ACC Academic Team consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a minimum 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a minimum 3.00 cumulative average during his academic career.
