Elizabeth Williams and freshman
Azurá Stevens each received honors on Monday.
Williams, who is a native of Virginia Beach, Va., was named the espnW National Player of the Week and ACC Player of the Week. A product of Raleigh, N.C., Stevens earned ACC Freshman of the Week.
Led by a monster game against Oklahoma with a season-high 26 points, career-high 20 rebounds, three blocks, three assists and two steals, Williams averaged 17.0 points, 12.3 rebounds, 3.3 blocks, 2.0 steals and 2.0 assists. Against Oklahoma, the 6-3 center became just the third Blue Devil in school history to join the 20-20 club.
On Sunday against eighth-ranked Kentucky, Williams totaled her fourth double-double of the season and 23rd of her career with 13 points, 10 rebounds, three blocks, three assists and one steal in 31 minutes. Against UMass Lowell, Williams played only 22 minutes, but still totaled 12 points, four blocks, three steals and seven rebounds. On the week, Williams moved into the top 25 of the NCAA career blocked shots list with 362 swats.
Stevens averaged 14.7 points, 9.3 rebounds, 1.7 blocks and 1.0 assists in the three victories. She hit 50.0 percent of her field goals and 8-of-11 free throws (72.7). Against No. 8 Kentucky, the 6-5 versatile Blue Devil tallied a team-high 17 points, nine rebounds and two blocks in only 18 minutes of action.
She collected 17 points, eight rebounds, three assists, two blocks and one steal against Oklahoma to open the week. Stevens posted her fourth double-double of the season with 10 points and 11 rebounds in only 20 minutes versus UMass Lowell. She has started each of the last five contests for Duke.
In the latest Associated Press poll, Duke moved back into the top 10 as the Blue Devils are tied 10th along with Oregon State.
The Blue Devils will be off for the Christmas holiday before heading to second-ranked Connecticut Monday, Dec. 29 for a 9:00 p.m., tip on ESPN2.
