Five Blue Devils Land on All-ACC Academic Team

DURHAM, N.C.—Five members of the Duke University wrestling team were named to the 2014 Atlantic Coast Conference Wrestling All-ACC Academic Team. The five selections were tied for the most in the league with North Carolina.
All five Blue Devils earned the honor for the first time of their careers as rookies Conner Bass, Jacob Kasper and Xaviel Ramos, redshirt freshman Evan Botwin and redshirt sophomore Marcus Cain picked up recognition.
Each of the five selections started for the Blue Devils this season. Jacob Kasper led the group with a 15-16 overall record at 184 pounds, while Conner Bass posted a 12-17 mark at 149 pounds. Marcus Cain, bumping up two weights from a year ago, was 11-17 at 165 pounds and Evan Botwin was 4-19 at 133. Xaviel Ramos was 8-22 at 141 pounds.
Duke finished the year 6-15 overall and took 29th as a team at the NCAA Championships.
