DURHAM, N.C.—Duke University two-time All-American Conner Hartmann will begin the 2015-16 wrestling campaign ranked third by InterMat. The redshirt senior finished sixth at the NCAA Championships a year ago.
Morgan McIntosh of Penn State and J'Den Cox of Missouri sit at Nos. 1 and 2, respectively, while Iowa's Nathan Burak and Michigan's Max Huntley round out the top five.
Hartmann, 68-27 for his career, is aiming to become Duke's first three-time All-American and wrestling national champion. The Port Orchard, Wash., native is coming off of a 21-5 season in which he captured the ACC title and took sixth at NCAA Championships.
Just the second two-time All-American in program history, Hartmann also was tabbed third in the FloWrestling preseason rankings. He went 4-1 against ranked foes a year ago and upset the No. 2 seed at NCAAs to advance to the national semifinals.
Hartmann will kick off his final season Nov. 1 in the 50th annual NWCA All-Star Classic in Atlanta. The event is set to be aired by ESPNU.
Duke opens the 2015-16 season Nov. 8 at the Hokie Open. The Blue Devils' first home dual will be Jan. 6 versus ACC foe NC State at 7 p.m.
