DURHAM, N.C.—After a strong start to the 2015-16 campaign at the Hokie Open, the Duke wrestling team will make the short trip to Raleigh for the annual Wolfpack Open. The Blue Devils are coming off capturing three titles and seven top-six finishes at the Hokie Open two weeks ago.
Wolfpack Open Details
The 2015 Wolfpack Open will be held in Carmichael Gymnasium on NC State's campus. There will be live video with a membership to FloWrestling. Live scoring also will be available on trackwrestling.com. Stay tuned to Twitter for updates on the Blue Devils throughout the day.
Blue Devils in the Lineup
Duke will have 21 wrestlers competing this weekend at the Wolfpack Open. Fifteen will be in Duke singlets, while the other six will be competing unattached.
Conner Hartmann will not be wrestling for the Blue Devils, but
Connor Bass and
Jake Faust will look to capture their second tournament titles.
Hokie Open Results Push Duke into National Polls
Duke's showing at the Hokie Open did not go unnoticed by those in the wrestling world. Following the Blue Devils titles from
Connor Bass (157),
Jake Faust (165) and
Conner Hartmann (197) and four other top-six finishes, Duke moved to 25th in the InterMat rankings and 18th in the FloWrestling poll. It marks the first time Duke has been in the top 25 under head coach
Glen Lanham.

Conner Hartmann stayed put at No. 3 in the national polls after starting the season undefeated with a win at the NWCA All-Star Classic and four more victories at the Hokie Open. He is 73-27 for his career in a Duke singlet. Redshirt sophomore
Jake Faust jumped into the rankings after an outstanding showing at the Hokie Open. Faust upset two-time Pac 12 champion and No. 4 Jim Wilson of Stanford in the title match. Faust is ranked 16th by InterMat and seventh by FloWrestling.
Rookies Make Collegiate Debuts

Brandon Leynaud,
Owen Lawrie,
Michael Monica and Araad Sarrami made their collegiate wrestling debuts at the Hokie Open. All four Blue Devils wrestled unattached and went 4-9 overall with Sarrami taking sixth at heavyweight in the freshman and sophomore division. All four are scheduled to compete again at the Wolfpack Open.

Next Up
Duke will return to the wrestling room to continue improvements, but will take a break from competition to finish the semester of classes and final exams before opening dual competition at Appalachian State Dec. 15. The dual is set to start at 6:30 p.m.
