DURHAM, N.C.—The Duke wrestling team, with two strong tournament showings under its belt, climbed to No. 24 in the latest InterMat team rankings. The Blue Devils previous were 25th after the team's debut at the Hokie Open.
In addition to being ranked 24th as a team, both Conner Hartmann and Jake Faust stayed put in the top 25. Faust, competing at 165 pounds, moved up two spots to 14th, while Hartmann remained in the No. 3 slot at 197 pounds. Neither wrestler competed at the Wolfpack Open over the weekend.
This is the highest ranking for a Blue Devil squad in program history after it grabbed its highest NCAA Championships finish last season.
Faust is unbeaten this season after winning the Hokie Open, which included a win over two-time Pac 12 champion and fourth-ranked Jim Wilson of Stanford. Hartmann also remains perfect after a commanding performance at the Hokie Open. He defeated a pair of ranked opponents, including posting a major decision in the title match against 14th-ranked Scottie Boykin of Chattanooga.
In the opening two weekends, the Blue Devils have earned 17 top-six finishes this season, eight of which were in the top three.
Duke will have a short break as the wrestlers finish the semester and final exams. The Blue Devils open dual match action Dec. 15 at Appalachian State at 6:30 p.m.
