Hartmann Headlines Duke Lineup
Hartmann, ranked third at 197 pounds, headlines the Duke lineup after cruising to an 8-1 victory over fifth-ranked Max Huntley of Michigan at the NWCA All-Star Classic. The reigning ACC Champion and All-American will look to become Duke's first three-time All-American this year.
Mitch Finesilver Moving Up Two Weight Classes
A NCAA qualifier as a true freshman at 133 pounds, Mitch Finesilver will be moving up to 149 pounds this season. After putting on nearly 15 pounds of muscle, Finesilver will look for success in a new weight class. The Colorado native went 11-9 in a Duke singlet as a rookie.
Four Rookies Join Blue Devils
The Blue Devils welcome four freshmen to the program this year. Owen Lawrie, Brandon Leynaud, Michael Monica and Araad Sarami all will be making their collegiate wrestling debut this weekend. Sarami is a Durham native who compiled a 144-42 career record at Riverside and earned all-state honors as a senior. Lawrie was a four-time all-state wrestler and two-time state champion for Faith Lutheran in Las Vegas. Leynaud is yet another Lexington, Ohio native to join the Blue Devils. He finished with a 161-36 record and advance to the Ohio State Tournament this final two seasons. Monica, hailing from Montville, N.J., won the 2012 New Jersey freestyle state title and amassed a 140-22 career record.
Notable Lineup Moves for the Blue Devils
Senior Trey Adamson, after wrestling at 174 for his entire career, will move up to the 184 division this year. Adamson went 14-10 last season, including 9-5 in duals, and is 54-39 overall for his career. Zach Finesilver likely will line up at 141 pounds this season for the Blue Devils after competing at 149 during a redshirt rookie season. Sophomore Xaviel Ramos will drop down to 133 pounds after competing at 141 pounds last season.
Duke Has Exciting 2015-16 Schedule
The Blue Devils have a demanding dual schedule this season, featuring five top-25 programs and three ranked in the top 10. Duke will face No. 7 Virginia Tech, No. 9 NC State, No. 10 North Carolina, No. 18 Northwestern and No. 24 Stanford. The Blue Devils have non-conference road trips to Stanford and Cal Poly as well as to Purdue and Northwestern, while the home schedule features NC State, Gardner-Webb, and Virginia Tech.
Next Up
Duke will take a one-week break before making the short trip to NC State for the annual Wolfpack Open. The Blue Devils begin dual action Dec. 15 at Appalachian State. The first home dual will be against the Wolfpack Jan. 6.
