DURHAM, N.C. – Prior to competing in her first NCAA College Cup Friday evening, Duke University junior
Christina Gibbons was named NSCAA Second Team All-America. The 5-6 junior became just the 10th Blue Devil in school history to receive All-America distinction from the NSCAA.
Gibbons, who hails from Raleigh, N.C., has helped guide the Blue Devil defense to 13 shutouts and just their third NCAA College Cup appearance. She has also made her mark on the offensive side collecting three goals, five assists and 11 points in 2015.
An All-ACC First Team honoree, Gibbons and the Duke defense has allowed only four goals over its final 11 matches. She has registered two goals and one assist in the 2015 NCAA Tournament. Not only is she one of the top soccer players in the nation, Gibbons is also solid in the classroom as she was selected CoSIDA Academic All-District III first team earlier this season.

The Blue Devils will next face top-seeded Florida State Friday, Dec. 4 at 7:30 p.m., at the WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, N.C. The match will be aired live on ESPNU.
