BLACKSBURG, Va. – The Duke wrestling team ran into another nationally ranked opponent Saturday dropping a 46-3 decision to No. 7 Virginia Tech.

Redshirt sophomore Benjamin Anderson earned the Blue Devils' lone points in the dual after breaking a scoreless deadlock with Caden Darber at 165 pounds following a two-point takedown midway through the match. Darber cut the lead in half thanks to an escape but Anderson responded in the third with an escape of his own to take the 3-1 decision win.

Duke tried to register consecutive individuals wins when redshirt freshman Mason Eaglin battled Cody Hughes at 174 pounds. The two went back-and-forth exchanging points before the Hokies' redshirt senior eventually pulled away for an 8-4 decision.

Duke faced four top-20 wrestlers by InterMat on the night, including No. 16 B.C. LaPrade (157). The Blue Devils were also hindered by having to forfeit at 125 and 141 pounds.

Duke has a quick turnaround as it hosts Navy on Sunday at 2 p.m. in an out-of-conference dual at Northwood High School in Pittsboro, N.C. Live stats will be available via TrackWrestling.
