DURHAM – The sixth-ranked Duke women's tennis team (3-0) advanced to the championship match of the ITA Kickoff Weekend Durham bracket with a 4-0 victory over the Nebraska Huskers (1-1) Saturday morning at Sheffield Indoor Tennis Center.

"I thought we did a good job of getting on top of Nebraska early," said head coach Jamie Ashworth. "We played good doubles matches then came out and really jumped on them in singles and gave them no breathing room at all. With another match tomorrow and back-to-back matches, we really wanted to accomplish that going into the weekend. Just take care of business, take care of what we needed to and be as prepared as we can be to play two solid matches."

Senior Kelly Chen and freshman Ellie Coleman made quick work of their opponent and tallied the first Duke win of the morning with a 6-0 defeat of Samantha Alicea/Isabel Androver Gallego. On court one, the 20th-ranked Blue Devil tandem of junior Chloe Beck and senior Margaryta Bilokin controlled the matchup against Kristina Novak/Maja Makoric from start to finish, giving Duke a 1-0 lead with a 6-3 dub.

Senior Georgia Drummy and sophomore Karolina Berankova led 5-4 on court two but their match went unfinished with the doubles point already secured.

As the action shifted to singles competition, Duke made sure to not let up and keep its foot on the gas pedal. No. 48 Coleman was the first Blue Devil to strike, collecting a pair of 6-0 wins over Ellie Kuckelman. Bilokin finished next for Duke and posted strong 6-1, 6-1 wins over Samantha Alicea on court five. The 15th-ranked Beck clinched the match for the Blue Devils by defeating Makoric, 6-1, 6-1.

Drummy and Chen took the first set against their respective opponents and held leads of 4-2 and 5-0 when the match was called, while Jackson was amid playing out a first set tiebreaker.

Up Next:
The Blue Devils advance to the championship match and will face the winner of the second match between Furman and No. 17 Oklahoma. The contest is slated for a 2 p.m. start.
