CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Duke was led by 11 points from
Dereck Lively II and
Ryan Young, but fell to No. 19 Miami, 81-59, at the Watsco Center on Monday night. The Blue Devils (17-7, 8-5) held their 23rd opponent this season to less than 50% shooting from the field, but were unable to overcome 21 turnovers.
Coming off a 14-rebound, eight-block performance against North Carolina, Lively also
grabbed six rebounds and blocked five more shots against the Hurricanes.
Kyle Filipowski finished with a team-high nine rebounds while also scoring nine points -- the first time he's failed to reach double-digit points since Dec. 31, 2022.
Jeremy Roach was the third Blue Devil in double-figures, finishing with 10 points.

- Duke made three straight field goals to close the half but trailed, 40-26. Filipowski led the Blue Devils after the first 20 minutes of action with nine points and nine rebounds, while Jacob Grandison dished four first-half assists.
- Ryan Young became the first Blue Devil to reach double-digits with just over 13 minutes left in the game. The layup was his third made field goal of the second half and moved the graduate to 5-of-6 from the field overall.
- Two free throws by Jeremy Roach gave the junior 11 points for the game. Roach has scored in double-figures in three straight, and in five of the last six Duke games. Â

QUOTES
- "Even the games, we've lost games on the road, we've been right there. Playing at Clemson, at Virginia Tech. We win the last one at Georgia Tech. And for us, it wasn't the same level of competing, and the same look. And so that's on me, on our guys, on our team. It's disappointing, not okay with it. Not taking any credit away from them. They won; they beat us. No excuses. No excuses on our end. We'll figure out where to go and how to improve from here. But disappointing for me." -- head coach Jon Scheyer
- "Yeah, I mean, conference play is real, man. Things can just flip the next day and the next game is going to be a real character test. Because they're the best team in our conference right now, we're going on the road to them, so we can't repeat what we just did tonight. We've got to get our stuff together and stay focused because we can make happen what exactly happened to us. We can be on the other side of that, we've just got to stay focused and gameplan on what's coming up next." -- freshman forward Kyle Filipowski
