DURHAM, N.C. – Duke rowing opened its 2024 fall schedule in strong fashion, racing four Varsity Eight boats at the High Point Rowing Festival on Oak Hollow Lake Sunday afternoon.
The Blue Devils competed against the Ukraine women's national team in the morning session before going head-to-head with Oxford University in the afternoon. Duke concluded action with the Dash for the Dr. Lenny Peters Cup, grabbing two spots on podium for second and third place.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Blue Devils opened the morning session with a tight race against Ukraine. All four Blue Devil boats stayed competitive with Ukraine's top boat but were narrowly edged at the finish line.
- In the afternoon session against Oxford, the Blue Devils' A boat clocked the winning time of 10:40. The B and C boats followed closely behind with times of 10:54 and 11:12 to earn second and third place, respectively.
- Duke wrapped up action at the regatta with the Dash for the Dr. Lenny Peters Cup in the afternoon session. The Blue Devils' B boat claimed a silver medal, while the A boat brought home bronze.

UP NEXT
The team then travels to Princeton, N.J., on Sunday, Nov. 3 to take part in the Princeton Chase. The Blue Devils will make their ninth appearance at the Princeton Chase since 2011. Duke's last appearance at the regatta was during the 2022 season and resulted in a pair of top-25 finishes in the Women's Open 8+.
