ATLANTA, Ga. – Duke swimming and diving completed the first day of competition on Friday evening with the women's team leading Georgia Tech 113-70, while the men's team trailed 160-45.
NOTABLES
The Blue Devils 400 Freestyle relay team consisting of Tatum Wall, Ali Pfaff, KyAnh Truong, and Clare Logantallied a first-place finish in the event, clocking a time of 3:15.69.
On the men's side of the 400 Freestyle Relay, Charlie Morici, Milo Shue, Blake Johnson, and Colin Mikulecky, touched in third place with a time of 2:58.52.
Yixuan Changand Ella Passesecured podium finishes in the 1650 Freestyle Friday, as Chang touched first at 17:00.28, while Passe touched third at 17:31.64.
Duke continued to produce fast times in the pool, as Ali Pfaffand Molly Donlancollected a one-two finish in the 100 Backstroke. Pfaff touched with a time of 53.22, while Donlan collected a time of 53.45.
Kaelyn Gridleywon the 100 Breaststroke on Friday, beating the second-place finisher by nearly two full seconds. Gridley touched with a time of 59.40, the only swimmer in the heat with a time sub one minute.
Kalen Anbartallied a fourth-place finish in the 100 Breaststroke for the men's team, touching with a time of 54.94.
In the 200 Butterfly, Martina Peroniwon the event by two seconds, touching in first with a time of 1:57.37. Audrey Portellocollected a fourth-place finish, touching with a time of 2:01.75.
Charlie Morici and Michael Jiangfinished second and third in the 200 Butterfly, as Morici touched with a time of 1:46.96 and Jiang tallying a time of 1:47.79.
Duke's women also swept the top two spots in the 50 Freestyle, as Wall touched with a time of 22.07 and Truong finished at 22.28.
In the men's one-meter dive, Yannis Schattmancollected a score of 310.35 to finish second, while Charles Bermantallied a score of 309.15 for a third-place finish.
Peroni and Donlan once again took the top spots in the 200 IM, as Peroni tallied a time of 2:00.48, while Donlan clocked in a time of 2:01.38.
Andrew Lifinished in second place of the 200 IM on the men's side, recording a time of 1:50.25.
In the women's three-meter event, Margo O'Mearaand Keira Lustole the show, as O'Meara tallied a first-place finish with a score of 335.85, while Lu finished second with a collective score of 282.98.
Charles Bermanclosed out the first day of competition for the Blue Devils with a second-place finish in the Men's Platform event. Berman tallied a score of 336.90 and secured four points.
