DURHAM, N.C. — The NCAA Division I Women's Soccer Committee announced its top 16 ranking during a reveal at halftime Sunday of the North Carolina at Duke contest in Durham with the Blue Devils ranked No. 8.

The ranking is based on the criteria used to select and seed the 64 teams for the Division I Women's Soccer Championship, and in no particular order includes strength of schedule, Rating Percentage Index, head-to-head competition, results versus common opponents, strength and results against non-conference opponents, late-season performance in the last eight games and strength and results against conference opponents.

Notre Dame was No. 1 followed by Virginia, Tennessee, Baylor, TCU, Florida State, Georgetown, Duke, West Virginia, Colorado, Michigan State, Iowa, Arkansas, Memphis, South Carolina and Wisconsin.Â

The Blue Devils have logged an 8-3-1 overall ledger in
Kieran Hall's opening season as head coach at Duke. He has led Duke to three wins against ranked opponents – No. 11 Penn State (3-2), No. 8 Arkansas (2-0) and No. 19 North Carolina (3-2).  The Blue Devils have been led on the year by

The 2025 championship field will consist of 30 automatic qualifiers and 34 at-large selections, which will be revealed on Monday, Nov. 10 at 4:00 p.m. (ET) on NCAA.com.

During selections, the committee will identify the top 32 teams, seeding them into four groupings of one to eight. The top 16 teams will be identified in rank order and assigned a seed grouping from one to four.
The tournament opens on Friday, Nov. 14. The championship will take place at campus sites through the quarterfinals as teams look to earn a trip to the Women's College Cup.

The 2025 Women's College Cup travels to CPKC Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri. The semifinals are set for 6 p.m., ET and 8:45 p.m., ET on ESPNU on Friday, Dec. 5. The championship is slated for 7 p.m., ET on ESPNU on Monday, Dec. 8.

Duke will next travel to Blacksburg, Virginia to face Virginia Tech at 7 p.m., on Saturday, Oct. 18.Â
