DURHAM, N.C. — A pair of former Duke women's soccer standouts –
Ella Hase and
Leah Freeman – have been selected to attend the United States Under-23 Women's National Team training camp from Oct. 20-28.
Hase is currently playing with Racing Louisville FC, while Freeman is with Bay FC of the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL).
The Duke duo are two of 24 players that received the call and will head to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The camp will run concurrently with the U.S. Senior Women's National Team camp where former Duke All-American
Michelle Cooper will be the team.
In her rookie season with Racing Louisville, Hase has made an immediate impact with the squad starting 15 of her 21 appearances, including 11 straight. She has totaled one assist on the year.
Freeman signed her first professional contract with Bay FC in July following a standout collegiate career that concluded with Duke advancing to the NCAA College Cup. She has been selected to the matchday roster for three league contests this season.
From Oct. 20-23, the camp will run concurrently with the U.S. Women's National Team's preparations to host Portugal in an international friendly at Subaru Park Oct. 23. The U-23 programming in Philadelphia is another step in U.S. Women's National Team head coach Emma Hayes' emphasis on the U-23 age group and its importance along the player pathway to the senior National Team.
