RALEIGH, N.C. – No. 19 Duke rowing concluded racing at the annual Lake Wheeler Invitational Saturday, collecting 82 points throughout the two-day regatta to finish second in the team standings.
No. 12 Virginia brought home the Pocock Cup after tallying 94 team points during the invitational. No. 20 Columbia (73), Clemson (67), No. 24 North Carolina (61), Boston University (48), Tulsa (31), Washington State (25), Georgetown (22) and Gonzaga (22) rounded out the top 10 teams.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Third Varsity Eight opened the morning racing for Duke in the third heat against Miami and Virginia. The Blue Devils finished in 6:53.221 to earn second place, just 1.369 seconds behind the first-place Cavaliers.
- Duke's Second Varsity Four lineup of coxswain Ava Liebmann, Avery Packard, Thea Lapham, Vivian Teeley and Jane Atkeson followed with a top-time of 7:22.523, racing past crews from Virginia, Boston University and Gonzaga.
- The Varsity Four boat clocked a time of 7:25.307, while the Second Varsity Eight finished in 6:33.423, both following closely behind the first-place crews from Virginia to take second.
- In the final race of the day, the Blue Devils' Varsity Eight was able to hold off Boston University in the final 500 meters, crossing the line second behind Virginia's top boat to register a time of 6:27.13 and round out the competition.
