COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Former Duke women's basketball standout and 2025 graduate
Reigan Richardson was tapped as one of 21 players selected to participate in the USA Basketball Women's AmeriCup Team trials, the organization announced Monday.
The trials are set to tip off June 17 at the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, with the final 12-member roster expected to be announced following trials. Athletes attending trials were selected by the USA Basketball Women's Junior National Team Committee, chaired by UCLA women's basketball head coach Cori Close. Following the selection of the 2025 USA Women's AmeriCup Team and a training camp, the United States will travel to Santiago, Chile, for the 2025 FIBA Women's AmeriCup, set for June 28-July 6.
Richardson won't be the only Blue Devil in Colorado, though.
As previously announced by USA Basketball in May, Duke women's basketball head coach
Kara Lawson is set to serve as head coach of the 2025 Women's AmeriCup team. She will be joined by assistants DeLisha Milton-Jones (Old Dominion University) and Jennie Baranczyk (University of Oklahoma).
The Charlotte, North Carolina product will make her USA Basketball debut after starting all 37 games for the Blue Devils during the 2024-25 campaign. She helped lead Duke to its third consecutive 20-win season (29-8), ninth ACC Tournament title and 12th Elite Eight appearance in the NCAA Tournament. The senior eclipsed the 1,000-point threshold – both individually and at Duke – during the 2024-25 campaign. Richardson concluded her career with 1,174 total points and scored 1,004 of those at Duke – becoming the 36th player all-time to surpass the benchmark as a Blue Devil.
In three seasons at Duke, Richardson started 97-of-104 games while averaging 9.7 points on 41-percent shooting, 2.5 rebounds and 1.7 assists. She helped lead the Blue Devils to 77 victories, three consecutive 20-win seasons and three straight NCAA Tournament appearances - including the 2024 Sweet Sixteen and 2025 Elite Eight – and one ACC championship.
The 2025 USA Women's AmeriCup Team will open Group B with host nation Chile, followed by Colombia, Puerto Rico and Mexico. The full schedule is available

Since the event's inception in 1993, the United States has captured four AmeriCup gold medals, including titles in 2019 and 2021.
