DURHAM, N.C. – The Duke women's soccer defense was stellar and freshman
Avery Oder registered the game-winner as the third-ranked Blue Devils totaled a 1-0 victory against Creighton Sunday evening inside Koskinen Stadium.
Oder, a native of Calabasas, Calif., registered her third goal over the first four matches to help the Blue Devils remain unbeaten. With the victory, Duke improved to 4-0 on the season, while Creighton dropped to 1-4.
How It Happened
- Senior Devin Lynch attempted Duke's first shot of the match at the 8:08 mark as she headed an attempt that was saved close to the near post.
- The Blue Devils had another excellent chance in the 21st minute as junior Mia Minestrella corralled a loose ball in the box and fired a shot that was saved.
- Duke controlled the possession in the first half and held a 9-0 advantage in shots.Lynch and freshman Avery Oder each had two attempts.
- The Blue Devils came out in the second half and got on the board as redshirt junior Kat Rader drove towards the endline and passed back to Oder in front of the goal, who finished inside the near post to give Duke a 1-0 lead at the 50:34 mark.
- Duke almost doubled its lead at the 68:16 mark as the Blue Devils used to excellent passing from Cameron Roller to Lynch to Minestrella, who missed her attempt wide left.
- For the match, the Blue Devils held possession 72 percent of the contest and outshot the Bluejays, 21-2.
- Oder finished the match with a career-high six shots, while Minestrella and Rader each had four.

- Duke failed to score a goal in the first half for the first time this season.
- Avery Oder totaled her third goal of the season over the first four matches.
- Kat Rader posted her fourth assist of the year and 12th of her career.
- In goal, sophomore Caroline Dysart totaled her third shutout in a row as she finished with zero saves over 90 minutes.
- Duke's defense was impressive, limiting Creighton to two shots, including zero on goal.
- The Blue Devils feature a 16-match unbeaten streak at home and a 14-match home winning streak versus non-conference opponents.
- Duke played its first Sunday match of the season, after playing on Thursday on the road at eighth-ranked Arkansas.
