ROYAL WELLINGTON, New Zealand — Duke women's golf freshman
Rianne Malixi closed action at the Women's Amateur Asia Pacific with a tied for third-place finish in Royal Wellington, New Zealand.
A product of Manila, Philippines, Malixi totaled rounds of 68, 66, 73 and 75 over four days to finish with a 6-under-par, 282. Malixi registered 10 birdies over the first two days and four over the final two rounds as southerly winds caused scores to be higher. She collected an eagle on the par-5 10th hole in the first and fourth rounds.
Yunseo Yang claimed the title with a 16-under, 272.
Malixi will return to Durham and next be with the Blue Devils for the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate March 2-4.
