Pair of Blue Devils Place Second at Wildcat Open

DURHAM, N.C. – Eight Duke wrestlers made the trip to Davidson this past weekend to compete in the Davidson Wildcat Open. A pair of Blue Devils wrestled their way into the finals, as six Blue Devils recorded multiple victories.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Eddie Radecki was the runner-up at 149 pounds, defeating the No. 2 seed Ryan Phillips of Campbell by a 13-2 major decision and the No. 3 seed Hayden Hughes of Chattanooga with a 10-7 decision.
Dash Hort finished 2-1 at 184 pounds, advancing to the championship match after taking down top-seed Brant Cracraft from Campbell with a 13-2 major decision in his first match of the day.
Noah Kochman finished 2-2, defeating fourth-seeded Charleston Baglio of Gardner-Webb in the quarterfinals en route to an appearance in the consolation finals at 141 pounds.
Peter Chacon posted a 3-2 record at 157 pounds, stringing together back-to-back wins against Mount Olive's Abriel Padilla (fall) and Bardley Williams of Stronghold (fall) in the consolation bracket.
Logan Richey also finished 3-2 in his five matches at 197 pounds, taking down the No. 3 seed Edison Flores from Gardner-Webb in the quarterfinals, ultimately finishing in the consolation semifinal.
Ryan Beirne had a split record of 2-2 at 165 pounds, defeating wrestlers from The Citadel and UNC Pembroke in the consolation bracket.
Colin Lutz pinned the No. 6 seed Christian Hale-Anderson of Presbyterian at 157 pounds early in the second period of his opening match, ultimately finishing 1-2 on the day.
Eli Murray dropped two matches at 157 pounds.

NOTES

Freshmen Eddie Radecki and Colin Lutz picked up their first wins for Duke at the tournament.
Ryan Beirne recorded the first victory of his collegiate career, wrestling for the first time in his redshirt freshman season.
Redshirt sophomore Peter Chacon was victorious for the first time this season with his technical fall victory over Gardner-Webb's Hunter Jones.
With three wins, Logan Richey recorded the most wins in a single tournament in his collegiate career.
