OAK RIDGE, Tenn. – No. 19 Duke opened its 2026 spring season Saturday at the Oak Ridge Cardinal Invitational on Melton Hill Lake in Oak Ridge, Tenn.
The Blue Devils went up against Miami, Alabama and Wisconsin in the morning before taking on No. 14 Indiana and No. 24 Oklahoma in the afternoon session. As a team, Duke collected wins in nine of its 10 races on day one of the invitational.

The Blue Devils went up against Miami, Alabama and Wisconsin in the morning before taking on No. 14 Indiana and No. 24 Oklahoma in the afternoon session. As a team, Duke collected wins in nine of its 10 races on day one of the invitational.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Duke's Third Varsity Eight opened the action in the morning, posting a third-place time of 7:08.696, crossing the finish line behind the crews from Alabama and Miami.
- The Varsity Four (7:38.201), Second Varsity Four (7:36.156) and Second Varsity Eight (6:40.578) earned three straight first-place finishes, cruising past the Crimson Tide and Hurricanes in the following three races.
- The Varsity Eight race came down to the wire with the Blue Devils edging Miami at the line by just 0.567 to capture the win in the photo finish.
- The Blue Devils were dominant in the afternoon session, sweeping all five races against No. 14 Indiana and No. 24 Oklahoma.
- The Second Varsity Four and Varsity Four highlighted the session after shaving over 10 and 14 seconds, respectively, off their morning times to capture their second wins of the day.
