INDIANAPOLIS - Duke freshman forward
Cameron Boozer has been named the recipient of the Oscar Robertson Trophy as the USBWA National Player of the Year and the Wayman Tisdale Award as the USBWA National Freshman Player of the Year, the U.S. Basketball Writers Association announced Tuesday, March 24.
Boozer is just the fifth player to sweep both awards, joining
Cooper Flagg (2025), Zion Williamson (2019), Anthony Davis (2012) and Kevin Durant (2007).
A native of Miami, Florida, Boozer becomes the 10th Blue Devil to be named National Player of the Year by the USBWA and seventh to win the Oscar Robertson Trophy, which was established in 1998. He is the seventh Blue Devil to earn National Freshman of the Year honors from the USBWA and sixth to take home the Wayman Tisdale Award, which began in 2011.
The Blue Devils have earned four of the past eight Wayman Tisdale Awards with Boozer (2026) joining Flagg (2025), Vernon Carey Jr. (2020) and Williamson (2019) as the nation's top freshman.
Boozer will be honored at the Men's Final Four in Indianapolis and will formally receive the award at the upcoming USBWA College Basketball Awards Banquet on April 13 in St. Louis, hosted by the Missouri Athletic Club.
The freshman forward owns the highest rating in the history of the KenPom Player of the Year standings (since 2011) at 2.977, surpassing Frank Kaminsky of Wisconsin in 2015 (2.794). He is also the top-rated player by EvanMiya since 2010 with a combined offensive and defensive performance rating of 14.68.
The Miami native ranks third in the nation in total scoring with 806 points (22.4 per game), fourth in rebounding with 371 (10.3 per game) and third in double-doubles with 21, while averaging a team-high 4.2 assists and shooting 56.3% from the field. Boozer has led all players in points, rebounds and assists in seven games this season, the most by an ACC player in a season in the last 30 years.
Boozer was selected as the 2025-26 ACC Player of the Year, ACC Rookie of the Year and ACC Tournament Most Valuable Player. He also earned ACC Player of the Week honors five times and Rookie of the Week recognition 10 times this season, sweeping both awards five times to match the ACC single-season record.
His historic campaign includes becoming the only Division I player in the last 30 seasons to record at least 700 points, 300 rebounds and 100 assists while shooting better than 50% from the field in a single regular season. Boozer's consistent production is demonstrated by recording at least 13 points, five rebounds and two assists in all 36 games this season, the longest such streak by any player (men's or women's) at any point in a Division I career this century.
Boozer is the 13th different Blue Devil to win National Player of the Year recognition and, with his previously announced honor from The Sporting News, is the 10th to be named National Player of the Year by multiple outlets in a single season.
