DURHAM, N.C. – No. 17 Duke welcomes Charlotte to Smith Family Stadium Tuesday evening for its final non-conference matchup of the regular season. First pitch with the Niners is set for 6 p.m.
The Blue Devils are coming off a 4-0 week with a 6-3 win over No. 7 Tennessee Wednesday night and a series sweep at Boston College over the weekend. Duke jumped out to an early lead, plating three runs within the first five pitches of the game, and continued its momentum to top the Lady Vols in the program's second top-10 win of the season. In Friday's series opener with the Eagles, Duke used runs in six of seven innings to defeat Boston College, 12-2. The Blue Devils then outscored the Eagles, 34-10, in a doubleheader Saturday to earn their fourth series sweep of the season.
Charlotte (26-22, 10-11 AAC) travels to Durham to kick off its final road swing of the regular season. The Niners began last week with a 6-0 win over Winthrop at home, highlighted by home runs from Jenna Lord and two from Teagan Ritchie. Charlotte was then swept in a three-game conference series with Wichita State over the weekend. Lord continues to lead the offense, batting .441 on the year with a team-high 64 hits and 14 doubles, while Ritchie leads the Niners in home runs with her 12 on the season. In the circle, Taylor Jones has worked 109.2 innings in her 28 appearances and holds 9-11 record.
