DURHAM, N.C. – Duke head football coach Manny Diaz announced Tuesday that quarterback Blaine Hipa has signed a financial aid agreement to attend the institution and join the Blue Devil gridiron program.
Hipa, a 6-2, 200-pound native of Kailua, Hawai'i, played in 23 games the last three seasons at Princeton with 10 starts. He will have one season of eligibility remaining beginning with the 2026 campaign.Â
For his career, Hipa has completed 189-of-340 (.556) passes for 2,127 yards and 11 touchdowns. He has rushed 126 times for 14 yards (0.11) and five scores. He has compiled 2,141 yards of total offense. He surpassed 200 yards passing in four games including a career-high 267 yards at Yale in 2024. He accounted for two or more TDs in three games with a personal-best four against Cornell in 2024.
Hipa threw two or more touchdown passes in three games with a personal-best three against Cornell in 2024. He completed 20 or more passes twice with a career-high 26 in the contest against the Big Red. He connected on a career-long 60-yard pass to Luke Colella against Brown in 2024.Â
Hipa registered five or more rushing attempts in 10 games, 10 or more in four contests and tallied a personal-best 16 at Harvard in 2024. He ripped off a career-long run of 16 yards against Brown in 2024. He scored one rushing TD against Yale (2023), Brown (2024), Harvard (2024), Cornell (2024) and Lafayette (2025). Â
At Chandler High School, Hipa threw for 2,915 yards and 30 touchdowns as a senior, when the team finished as the state runner-up. He earned all-state and all-region open division accolades in addition to earning offensive player of the year accolades.
