Kimel Welcomes 12-Member Class Ahead of 2027 Season

DURHAM, N.C. – Duke women's lacrosse head coach Kerstin Kimel announced the addition of 12 newcomers to the Blue Devils' roster ahead of the 2027 season.
The 12-member class is comprised of nine freshmen – Brooke Ambrose, Shaye Angelo, Sabrina Eaton, Harper Lambert, Caitlin McCarthy, Brooke McCoy, Lily Selcher, Quinn Sheehan and Beau Whaling – along with three graduate students in Ava Plata, Olivia Rose and Peep Williams.
Brooke Ambrose | M | The Potomac School | McLean, Virginia
Ambrose starred as a midfielder and was a four-year letterwinner at The Potomac School. A five-star recruit, she was ranked No. 25 in the Class of 2026 by Inside Lacrosse. Ambrose served as team captain as a senior, tallying 34 goals and 19 assists en route to being named a 2026 New Balance and USA Lacrosse All-American, along with a selection to the 2026 New Balance All-America Senior Game. As a junior, she posted 39 goals, 29 assists and 60 draw controls, earning VISAA All-State First Team and All-ISL honors. Her sophomore campaign saw her net 41 goals, 21 assists and 59 draw controls, garnering VISAA All-State Second Team and All-ISL recognition. As a freshman, she was named the Potomac Girls Varsity Rookie of the Year after totaling 35 goals and 11 assists.
Shaye Angelo | A | Honeoye Falls-Lima HS | Honeoye Falls, New York
Angelo was a five-year letterwinner and two-year captain as an attacker for Honeoye Falls-Lima High School. She helped lead HF-L to four Section V titles and two regional championships, totaling 319 goals, 147 assists (466 points) and 474 draw controls over her career. A four-time All-Monroe County and three-time All-Greater Rochester honoree, Angelo was also a three-time Section V Class C All-Tournament Team selection, two-time Section V Class C Tournament MVP and two-time Monroe County Offensive Player of the Year. She earned all-state recognition three times and capped her career as a 2026 USA Lacrosse Magazine All-American, earning a selection to the 2026 New Balance All-America Senior Game. As a junior, Angelo set the school's single-season records for goals (99) and points (149).
Sabrina Eaton | GK | St. John's Catholic | Silver Spring, Maryland
Eaton lettered all four years in net for St. John's Catholic Prep and notched 483 career saves, including three straight seasons with triple-digit stops. A two-time team captain, she helped lead St. John's to the IAAM B Conference title as a freshman and a runner-up finish as a sophomore. Eaton was an All-IAAM B Conference pick in 2026, and earned team MVP honors as both a junior and senior. She capped her career with a 2026 All-Frederick County First Team nod after earning second-team recognition in 2025 and an honorable mention nod in 2024.
Harper Lambert | M | Manhasset HS | Manhasset, New York
A four-year letterwinner at Manhasset High School, Lambert produced 138 career points on 119 goals and 19 assists, capping her career with a team-best 65 points (55 goals, 10 assists) as a senior. Lambert earned Newsday All-Long Island First Team honors in 2026, along with All-Nassau County, USA Lacrosse Magazine All-American and Newsday Top 100 Long Island Girls Lacrosse Players recognition.
Caitlin McCarthy | D | Episcopal Academy | West Chester, Pennsylvania
McCarthy was a four-year letterwinner at Episcopal Academy where she racked up 91 ground balls and 98 caused turnovers over four seasons. She broke out offensively during her senior year with four goals, four assists and five draw controls. She capped her career with Inter-Ac All-League First Team honors in 2026, along with Episcopal Academy's Defender MVP and both the Ground Ball and Adam J. Murray Excellence in Athletics and Leadership awards. As a junior, she earned Inter-Ac All-League Second Team, All-Main Line Honorable Mention and All-Delco recognition. McCarthy was named PASLA Breakout Player of the Year as a sophomore, when she also collected Inter-Ac All-League Second Team, All-Main Line Second Team, All-Delco and American Select All-Tournament Second Team accolades, in addition to Episcopal Academy's Ground Ball Award.
Brooke McCoy | M | Episcopal School of Jacksonville | Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida
McCoy enjoyed a decorated four-year career at The Episcopal School of Jacksonville, where she racked up 216 goals, 74 assists, 162 ground balls, 521 draw controls and 94 caused turnovers while helping lead the Eagles to four FHSAA Region 1-1A championships. A five-star recruit by Inside Lacrosse, McCoy was ranked No. 6 in the 2026 class by USA Lacrosse Magazine. A three-time USA Lacrosse Magazine All-American, she was also a two-time Times Union All-First Coast and Varsity 4 All-News4JAX Player of the Year (2025, 2026), a three-time Times Union All-First Coast First Team honoree and a four-time All-News4JAX First Team selection. McCoy capped her career by sweeping the 2026 Florida Dairy Farmers Miss Lacrosse award and Player of the Year honor, and earned a selection to the 2026 New Balance All-America Senior Game. A senior team captain and three-time team MVP, she also represented the U.S. on the 2025 U-19 Youth National Team and the 2024 U-16 Youth National Team.
Ava Plata | A | UConn | Orchard Park, New York
Plata joins the Blue Devils as a graduate transfer from UConn. During her time with the Huskies, she played in 41 career games and totaled 24 goals and 22 assists. In 2025, Plata posted career bests in goals (four) and points (six) versus Denver (4/6), then matched her career-high of six points against Georgetown (4/26).
Olivia Rose | D | Stanford | Stevenson, Maryland
Rose comes to Durham after a four-year career at Stanford, where she helped the Cardinal to the 2024 Pac-12 Regular Season and Tournament titles. Rose appeared in 59 games with 42 starts, totaling 90 ground balls, 73 caused turnovers and five draw controls. She finished her Stanford career ranked No. 6 in program history in caused turnovers. Rose was a two-time All-ACC Third Team (2025, 2026) and 2025 IWLCA All-West/Midwest Region Second Team pick.
Lily Selcher | D | Sacred Heart Prep | Atherton, California
A four-year letterwinner at Sacred Heart Prep splitting time as both a midfielder and defender, Selcher was a two-time team captain (2025, 2026) and tallied 110 goals, 43 assists, 150 draw controls, 103 caused turnovers and 106 ground balls during her high school career. A three-time All-WBAL selection, Selcher earned first-team honors in 2024 and 2026 and a second-team nod in 2025, while helping the Gators to three WBAL championships (2023, 2024, 2026) and two CIF-CCS titles (2025, 2026). As a senior, she helped lead Sacred Heart Prep to a perfect 20-0 record, league and section crowns and a No. 1 West Region ranking from USA Lacrosse Magazine, Inside Lacrosse and LaxNumbers. Selcher was named a 2025 USA Lacrosse Magazine High School All-American and paced her team in caused turnovers as a sophomore and junior and owned the team high in ground balls in 2025. She also competed in the 2026 Adrenaline All-American Girls Game and was selected for the 2025 New Balance All-American Highlight Division. A three-year member of the California American Select team, Selcher earned all-tournament second-team honors in 2024 and took part in the 2024 USA Lacrosse National Team Development Program U-16 combine.
Quinn Sheehan | D | Bronxville HS | Bronxville, New York
Sheehan was a four-year letterwinner at Bronxville High School, where she was a four-time all-league selection and three-time All-Section 1 First Team honoree. Sheehan was tabbed an all-state third team performer and team MVP as a junior, after earning the program's defensive MVP honor in 2024. Across her sophomore and junior seasons, Sheehan posted 76 draw controls, 55 ground balls, 41 caused turnovers, two goals and two assists.
Beau Whaling | A | Rye HS | Rye, New York
Whaling joins the Blue Devils after a standout four-year career as an attacker at Rye High School, where she helped guide the Garnets to a pair of New York Section 1 Class C titles (2024, 2026) and a runner-up finish in 2025. As a senior team captain, Whaling erupted for 68 goals, 14 assists, 61 draw controls, 22 ground balls and eight caused turnovers en route to earning Westchester County Player of the Year, NY All-Section 1 First Team, USA Lacrosse All-America and all-league honors. She also helped lead Rye to the 2026 Class C state semifinals, picking up the tournament's sportsmanship award and a spot on the all-tournament team. A three-time All-Section 1 selection for her career, Whaling posted 32 goals and 20 assists as a junior, 34 goals and 19 assists as a sophomore, and 13 goals and eight assists as a freshman, stacking up all-league recognition in each of those seasons as well.
Peep Williams | A | Stanford | Binghamton, New York
Williams makes her way to the Bull City after a four-year career at Stanford, where she helped the Cardinal to the 2024 Pac-12 Regular Season and Tournament titles. Williams appeared in 44 games at Stanford, totaling 21 goals, 21 assists (42 points), 14 ground balls and two draw controls. She was a two-time IWLCA Academic Honor Roll (2025, 2026), 2026 All-ACC Academic Team and 2024 Pac-12 Academic Honor Roll selection.
The Blue Devils return 30 letterwinners from their 2026 squad, led by offensive standouts Ava Biancardi (51g, 12a), Avery Doran (41g, 20a), Bella Goodwin (33g, 22a), Eva Pronti (19g, 51a) and Quinn Whitaker (31g, 6a). Duke also welcomes back the ACC's top draw specialist in Ellie White (167 draw controls) and defensive stalwart Amanda Paci (38 caused turnovers, 28 ground balls).
