CLEMSON, N.C. – Redshirt junior
Ava Biancardi produced her ninth hat trick of the season, but 17th-ranked Duke (9-6, 5-4 ACC) suffered a 17-5 setback at No. 11 Clemson (12-4, 6-3 ACC) Saturday afternoon in ACC women's lacrosse action.
Biancardi paced the Duke offense with four goals, while sophomore
Avery Doran led the distribution efforts with two assists. The trio of junior

Amanda Paci headed the Blue Devils' defensive performance with two caused turnovers and two ground balls apiece. Redshirt freshman

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Clemson got off to a fast start and held a 5-0 lead after the opening 15 minutes.
- Biancardi broke the seal for the Blue Devils 36 seconds into the second frame, slotting one home off an assist by Eva Pronti. Biancardi added another goal at the 9:50 mark, then Doran joined the Duke scoring column with just over five minutes to play in the half.
- Clemson tallied five goals of its own, however, stretching the lead to 10-3 at the break.
- Biancardi completed the hat trick with her third goal of the afternoon midway through the third, delivering a strike off a feed from Doran to trim the deficit to nine.
- The Tigers book ended the third with goals and held a 14-4 lead after 45 minutes of play.
- Duke and Clemson traded goals to start the final period, with the Blue Devils' marker once again coming off the stick Biancardi.
- Clemson added two more tallies late in the fourth to put the finishing touches on the win.
NOTES:
- Duke falls to 9-6 overall and 5-4 in ACC competition. Clemson improves to 12-4 and 6-3 in league play. The Tigers move their ledger in the all-time series to 4-1 and 2-1 at Clemson.
- Ava Biancardi posted her third consecutive and ninth hat trick of the season. She has scored at least two goals 13 times on the year.
- With six draw controls on the afternoon, Ellie White now has 154 this season and 254 for her career. Her 154 draw controls are currently No. 4 on the Duke single-season charts.
- Bella Goodwin scooped up a career-high three ground balls.
