DURHAM, N.C. – Duke volleyball extended its winning streak to four games with a 3-1 (25-18, 25-18, 26-28, 28-26) victory over Marshall inside Cameron Indoor Stadium on Friday night.

Duke (6-1) cruised in the opening two sets, but Marshall (5-2) responded with a comeback win in the third. The Blue Devils clinched the match victory in an intense fourth frame.

Nataly Moravec had an impressive double-double for the Blue Devils, leading all players with a career-high 21 kills and 18 digs. The match marked her fourth consecutive game of 15-plus kills and her second double-double in a row.

Ashby Zubchevich was also dominant offensively with 19 kills and three service aces. The sophomore outside hitter has recorded double-digit kills in all but one match this season and has 40 kills over the last two games. She also recorded a double-double with 11 digs.

Duke not only scored a lot, but it also scored in efficient fashion, hitting .319. Helping lead the offense was setter Nikki Quinn, who had a career-high 55 assists and did not record a setting error. It marks the first time in her career that she has eclipsed 50 assists in a match. She also added a pair of dump kills.

The career performances weren't just limited to offense, as a number of players put up big stats on defense. It was the best blocking performance so far this year, as Duke had a season-high 14.0 blocks.

Zoe Gillen-Malveaux had a career-high nine blocks – all assists – to lead the Blue Devils. Moravec also had a career-best showing at the net, recording five blocks. Goss also recorded five blocks, while Avery Hamlin had four.

In addition to Moravec and Zubchevich's double figure digs, Mailinh Godschall had 16 from the libero position.

Marshall finished the night hitting .211.

How it Happened
Set 1 – Duke 25, Marshall 18
• The two teams went back and forth for the entire opening portion of the set, and the Blue Devils took a 15-13 lead into the media timeout after scoring the previous four points.
• Leading 16-14, Duke scored five of the next six points to take a 21-15 lead. Its advantage wouldn't get smaller than five and Moravec recorded an ace to end the set.
• Duke hit .351 in the frame, while Goss led with six kills on seven attempts. The Thundering Herd hit .233.

Set 2 – Duke 25, Marshall 18
• The teams continued to trade points to open the second set and were tied 10-10. The Blue Devils then erupted for a 7-1 run to take a six-point lead and grab all the momentum.
• Duke would lead by at least four for the remainder of the frame and closed the set on a Zubchevich kill to take a 2-0 lead.
• Zubchevich was the dominant force in the frame, scoring seven kills. Defensively, Duke held Marshall to a .053 hitting clip while recording five blocks.

Set 3 – Marshall 28, Duke 26
• Duke continued to play well in the third set and seemed close to putting the match away, as it led 18-13.
• However, Marshall wasn't going down quietly and cut the Blue Devil lead all the way down to three. Still, leading 23-20, Duke was on the brink of recording its third consecutive sweep.
• Marshall scored the next four points to take a 24-23 lead. The two teams would go back and forth before the Thundering Herd finally won two consecutive points on a kill and Duke attacking error to pick up the set win.

Set 4 – Duke 28, Marshall 26
• Like the opening two sets, both sides traded points for the first half of the set with Marshall holding a slim 15-14 lead at the media timeout.
• Marshall continued adding to its lead and seemed to be on its way to forcing a fifth set, leading 20-17.
• Duke answered back, and thanks to blocks by Gillen-Malveaux and Moravec, tied things at 21-21.
• The Blue Devils had their first chance at the match point with a 24-23 lead, but Marshall evened things. Finally, on its third match point, Duke closed things out with a kill by Zubchevich.
• Duke hit .375 in the frame and got seven kills and zero errors from Moravec. Marshall hit .229.

By the Numbers
• Duke outkilled Marshall 66-55. The Blue Devils finished with a .319 clip while the Thundering Herd hit .209.
• Duke had three players with double-figure kills – Moravec (21), Zubchevich (19) and Goss (10). Marshall was led by Emma Barnett's 18 kills.
• Duke had 64 assists compared to Marshall's 54.
• The Blue Devils had seven aces in the match compared to four for the Herd.
• Defensively, Duke won the dig battle 69-67. Moravec (18), Godschall (16) and Zubchevich (11) led the Blue Devils.
• Duke had a season-high 14 blocks, while Marshall had six. Gillen-Malveaux led with nine, while Moravec and Goss each added five.
