Duke Wraps Up Non-Conference Play at Butler

DURHAM, N.C. – Duke volleyball will wrap up its non-conference slate this weekend as it travels to Indianapolis for matches against Butler on Friday and Long Island on Saturday.

Duke (7-1) is off to its best eight-match start since 2012, when the Blue Devils also started the season winning seven of their first eight matches. Duke's current five-match winning streak is its longest since 2023, when it won nine in a row.

The First Serve
Duke's strong start to the 2026 season under head coach Ahen Kim continued last week as the Blue Devils went a perfect 3-0 inside Cameron Indoor Stadium. After sweeping Charleston Southern last Tuesday, Duke defeated Marshall (3-1) on Friday and Belmont (3-0) on Saturday.

It was a strong offensive week for Duke, as it recorded 165 kills on .324 hitting. Ashby Zubchevich had a team-high 50 kills on .314 hitting. Nataly Moravec had 49 on .295 hitting. Both players recorded 21 kills in a match, as Zubchevich did it against Charleston Southern and Moravec did it against Marshall.

Setter Nikki Quinn played a major role in the Blue Devils' offensive efficiency, finishing the weekend with 135 assists. She had a career-high 55 assists in Duke's 3-1 win over Marshall on Saturday.

In addition to the strong offense, Duke's defense also put together its best weekend of the season. The Blue Devils held opponents to .177 hitting in the three games. Mailinh Godschall had a team-high 43 digs last week and recorded the 1,000th of her career in Saturday's win. Zoë Gillen-Malveaux led Duke with 16 total blocks, including a career-high nine against Marshall.

• Nikki Quinn ranks first in the country in assists per set at 11.74. As a team, Duke is also first in the country in team assists per set at 14.11. The Blue Devils are hitting .304 this year.
• With 14.93 kills per set, Duke ranks third in the country and second in the ACC. Nataly Moravec (4.04) and Ashby Zubchevich (3.96) rank fourth and fifth in the ACC.
• Duke's 7-1 record is its best through eight matches in 14 years. The Blue Devils also started 7-1 to open the 2012 season.
• Duke continues to be the best serving team in the ACC, ranking first in the conference and 15th nationally in aces per set (2.44). Zubchevich is first in the ACC with 0.69 aces per set.

• The Bulldogs defeated ACC opponent Clemson in five sets during the opening weekend of the season.
• Butler is one of the better net-protecting teams in the country this season. Its 96.0 blocks rank 11th nationally and second in the Big East.
• The offensive attack has been spread out for Butler as seven players already have 50 or more kills. Raegan Durbin and Sawyer Jones lead the way with 78 apiece.
