Boehringer, Klas Sweep ACC Weekly Field Hockey Awards

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – After helping lead the Blue Devils to a 1-0 win over No. 9 Virginia this past Friday, Duke junior Julia Boehringer and graduate student Philine Klas garnered ACC weekly honors. Boehringer was tabbed the ACC Offensive Player of the Week, while Klas collected ACC Co-Defensive Player of the Week honors.
Boehringer scored the game-winning goal, converting on a penalty corner at the 13:30 mark of the first quarter. Her marker proved to be the difference as Duke captured its first ranked win of the 2026 campaign. The Munich, Germany, product owns four points this season on a goal and two assists.
Klas, hailing from Bonn, Germany, recorded a defensive save on Virginia's lone penalty corner of the game (1st quarter, 5:56) and aided the Blue Devil defense to their fourth shutout of the year. Duke held UVA without a shot for nearly 30 minutes of game action, to just three total attempts during the game -- a season-low -- and to its first scoreless outing of the season.
No. 5 Duke (5-2, 1-0 ACC) returns to action this weekend, traveling to No. 3 Wake Forest (Sept. 25) before hosting Boston College (Sept. 27). The Blue Devils and Demon Deacons commence action at 5 p.m., while the matchup against the Eagles is slated for a 1 p.m., opening hit. Both contests will stream live on ACCNX.
