Malixi Set for 2026 Asian Games in Japan

KASUGAI CITY, AICHI, Japan – Duke women's golf sophomore Rianne Malixi is set to open action in the 2026 Asian Games, which will take place at the Kasugai Country Club Sept. 30 to Oct. 3 in Kasugai City, Aichi, Japan.
Malixi will represent her home country of the Philippines along with Pauline Beatriz Del Rosario and Bianca Isabel Pagdanganan.
Other countries competing on the women's side will be China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, India, Japan, Kazakhstan, Korea, Mongolia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Chinese Taipei, United Arab Emirates and Vietnam.
A product of Manila, Philippines, Malixi last competed in the Asian Games in 2023 in China. She turned in an 11th-place finish, individually, while the team placed ninth. In 2018, the Philippines swept both the team and individual gold medals.
Malixi, one of the top amateur golfers in the world, is coming off an impressive freshman season at Duke, where she earned Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) National Freshman of the Year accolades with a 70.60 stroke average. She also received ACC Freshman of the Year honors, was named a WGCA First Team All-American and was on the ANNIKA Award watch list for national player of the year.
In the latest World Amateur Golf Rankings (WAGR), Malixi is No. 10.
With Malixi competing in the Asian Games, she will miss Duke's next team event at the Windy City Collegiate Classic Oct. 5-6 in Glencoe, Illinois.
