Reynoldson Named to Ray Guy Award Ray's 8 for Week One

DURHAM, N.C. – Duke junior punter Kade Reynoldson has been named to the Ray Guy Award "Ray's 8" list following week one of play, the award announced Tuesday afternoon.
The "Ray's 8" list recognizes collegiate punters each week. From the group nominated, fans determine which punter should be named Punter of the Week by voting on the Ray Guy Award website, here.
In Saturday's season opener, Reynoldson's field position flipping helped Duke hold Tulane without a touchdown for the first time since 2019 as the Blue Devils earned a 17-3 victory.
The Blue Devils shut out the Green Wave in the first half, marking Duke's initial shutout in an opening half since the 2024 season opener against Elon. The three total points were the fewest for a Duke opponent since Syracuse tallied three on September 27, 2025.Â
The returning starting punter boomed four punts for an average of 54.2 yards. He eclipsed 60 yards on two punts and pinned Tulane within its own 20-yard line on two of the four boots.Â
Reynoldson's first punt of the season traveled 62 yards and helped Duke flip field position as the ball was downed at the Tulane 17-yard line.Â
His fourth, and final, punt of the game covered 61 yards and was downed at the Tulane four-yard line with 4:19 to play, helping salt the game away and preserve the Duke victory.
About the Ray Guy Award
The Augusta Sports Council created the Ray Guy Award in 2000 to honor Thompson, Georgia native and College and Pro Football Hall of Fame Inductee, Ray Guy. Among the statistics used to identify the winner is net punting average, number of times punt is downed or kicked out of bounds inside the opponents 20-yard line, total yardage punted, average returned yardage and percentage of punts not returned with particular emphasis on net punting average. The winner must display team leadership, self-discipline and have a positive impact on the team's success.
