Before Duke: A top wrestler at Montini Catholic … Rated as the nation’s top heavyweight coming out of high school … Won the Illinois State Championship in 2015 … Went undefeated his senior season at 21-0 and was 61-1 his final two campaigns at Montini … Did not give up a single point en route to the title his senior season … Was crucial in leading Montini to the 2014 and 2015 Illinois State Championships … Was the Illinois recipient of the prestigious Dave Schultz and Tricia Saunders High School Excellence Awards for 2015 based on excellence in wrestling, scholastic achievement, citizenship and community service.
