Lindy Brown joined Duke Athletics in November of 1999 and serves as a Senior Associate Director of Communications. Brown serves as the primary communications contact for women's golf, women's soccer, women's tennis and wrestling. During his tenure at Duke, he has worked with numerous championship-caliber programs and has been part of six NCAA Women's Golf Championships, three NCAA Women's Basketball Final Fours, two NCAA Women's Tennis Final Fours and four NCAA Women's Soccer College Cups.Â
Brown has been recognized nationally for his contributions to athletics communications. In 2019, he received the CoSIDA Achievement Award for the University Division and was honored at the organization's annual convention. In recognition of his long service to the game of women's basketball, Brown was presented with the U.S. Basketball Writers Association's Mary Jo Haverbeck Award in 2023 at the NCAA Women's Final Four in Dallas. His publications work has also earned national recognition, as his 2001-02 Duke women's basketball media guide placed second nationally in the CoSIDA publications contest for Division I institutions. His 2006-07 women's basketball media guide finished fifth nationally, while the 2007-08 and 2008-09 editions placed sixth and seventh, respectively.
Prior to joining Duke, Brown served as the sports information director and marketing and promotions coordinator at South Carolina Aiken for three years.
A native of Raleigh, N.C., Brown earned a Bachelor of Science degree in sport management from Western Carolina University. While at Western Carolina, he worked in the sports information office and completed a marketing and promotions internship with the Catamount baseball program.
