Dustin Avolio joined the Duke football staff in April 2026 and currently serves as the director of football operations.

Prior to his time in Durham, Avolio was a member of the Mid-American Conference for nearly four years. He began as the director of football operations in July 2022 before being promoted to assistant commissioner/football operations.

Before joining the MAC, Avolio was the director of football operations at Pitt for four seasons. Avolio joined the Panthers in 2019 after having gained experience with the Miami Hurricanes’ football program during the 2017 and 2018 seasons.

Prior to joining the Hurricanes, he worked during the 2016 season with USA Football.

Avolio graduated from Michigan in 2014 with a bachelor’s degree in sport management. As an undergraduate, he interned with the Wolverines’ football program. Avolio went on to earn his master’s degree, also in sport management, from Georgetown in 2015. During his time at Georgetown, he interned with the Washington Wizards, helping the organization prepare for the 2015 NBA Draft.

A native of Washington, Pennsylvania, Avolio has additional pro sports intern experience with the Pittsburgh Penguins and Pittsburgh Pirates.
