Jalen Manning joined the Duke Athletics staff in October 2021 as a Communications Staff Assistant and was promoted to Assistant Director of Communications in July 2022. Manning serves as the primary communications contact for field hockey, fencing, track & field and women's lacrosse. During his tenure at Duke, he has also overseen communications efforts for swimming & diving, cross country and women's basketball.
Prior to joining Duke, Manning was an athletic communications assistant at UConn from 2018-21. In that role, he assisted with the communications efforts for men's soccer, women's ice hockey, rowing, women's lacrosse, softball and men's basketball. Manning also served as an athletic communications intern at Harvard during the 2017-18 academic year, focusing on historical research and social media.
In addition, he gained valuable championship experience working the 2019 NCAA Division I Women's Basketball First and Second Rounds, the 2018 NCAA Division I Men's Lacrosse Championship Weekend and the 2018 NCAA Division I Men's Basketball East Regional.
Originally from Wichita, Kan., Manning was a four-year men's basketball manager at Tulsa, where he earned a bachelor's degree in communications in 2016. He later earned a master's degree in sport leadership from VCU in 2018.
