John Averette joined the Duke Athletics staff in April of 2024 and currently serves as the Assistant Director of Development. He proactively initiates outreach efforts to renew and upgrade entry and mid-level annual giving prospects.
Prior to his role with Duke, he most recently served as a graduate assistant for member services with the Rams Club at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, where he focused on soliciting new annual fund members, upgraded existing members and collaborated on major gift asks.
Averette graduated from North Carolina State University in 2022 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Sports Management and then went on to earn his Master of Arts in Sports Administration from North Carolina in 2024. He currently resides in Durham with his dog, Casper.
