John Justyn joined the Duke University Health System as an Athletics and Outpatient Sports Physical Therapist in July 2024. His role encompasses treating Blue Devil student-athletes within the Olympic sports training room and an outpatient sports clinic. He collaborates with the athletic medicine and sports performance staffs, focusing heavily on the Duke baseball team by implementing player assessments, managing seasonal profiles, rehabilitating athletes and traveling with the team for games.
Previously, Justyn completed a Sports Physical Therapy Fellowship at Duke from July 2023 to July 2024. During this fellowship, he worked with various Duke athletics teams, including baseball, softball, football, basketball, soccer and lacrosse, and managed their care both in and out of season.
He also completed a Sports Physical Therapy Residency at Duke University Health System from September 2022 to July 2023, where he provided care in a multidisciplinary team setting and treated high volumes of post-operative patients.
Justyn earned his Doctor of Physical Therapy from Duke University School of Medicine, graduating in 2021. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Pre-Physical Therapy (Biology) from Walsh University, where he graduated cum laude in 2018.
