Monty Montgomery joined the Duke Athletics staff in May of 2021 and serves as the Steve & Melinda Duncker Men's Basketball Academic Coordinator.
An Indiana native, he earned a B.A. in Global Studies from Franklin College (Ind.) in 2018 and an M.A. in Latin American and Caribbean Studies from Indiana University in 2020. He then secured an M.A. in History from Duke in 2022.
While studying at Duke, Montgomery served as an academic mentor and tutor for the Blue Devils' athletic department, working primarily with football and women’s basketball. He then served as the interim academic coordinator for men's basketball in the spring of 2022 before moving into his current role.
In his first year on the job, the Blue Devils landed four student-athletes on the All-ACC Academic Team and eight on the ACC Honor Roll. After posting a collective GPA of 3.12 for the 2022-2023 season, the team received the NABC Team Excellence Award and five Blue Devils were recognized as NABC Honors Court recipients.
