Siripipat defeated Dorothee Kurz of Pepperdine (6-4, 6-4) and Rebecca Ho of Penn State (6-3, 6-4) before falling to Witten. Freshman Hillary Adams won her first round match against Helen Lawson of Boise State, but fell to Maren Mueller of Pepperdine (6-4, 6-4). Junior Ioana Plesu lost her first round match to Catherine Hawley of UCLA (2-6, 7-6 (4), 6-2).
In doubles action, Plesu/Siripipat won their first round match against Chuda/Castelle of Kansas State (6-2, 7-6 (5)), but were knocked out in the second round by Mueller/Kurz of Pepperdine (6-7 (6), 6-3, 6-2).
Five other Blue Devils are still set to participate in the qualifying and main draw sections of the Riviera Women's All-American Championships in Pacific Palisades, Calif. from Oct. 17-22. Listed below is the schedule.
Senior Kathy Sell (Moorestown, N.J.), senior Megan Miller (Palm City, Fla.), and freshman Ansley Cargill (Atlanta, Ga.) have qualified for the singles main draw starting on Oct. 19, while freshman Amanda Johnson (Bettendorf, Iowa) and sophomore Katie Granson (Bethlehem, Pa.) are in the qualifying round beginning Oct. 17.
In the ITA preseason singles rankings, Miller is ranked No. 10, Sell is No. 23, Cargill is tied at No. 59, Granson is No. 79, and Johnson is No. 89.
Set to play in doubles action is Granson/Sell, Miller/Johnson, and Adams/Cargill as they will participate in the qualifying round on Oct. 17. The duo of Miller/Johnson are coming off four consecutive victories at the Carolina Classic where they came away with the Flight A doubles title.
