Cargill Named ITA National Player of the Month

DURHAM, N.C. (November 11) - Duke University freshman women's tennis player Ansley Cargill
has been named Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Player of the Month
for October after posting an 9-0 record last month and capturing the singles
title at the Riviera Women's All-American Championships.
Cargill, a native of Atlanta, Ga., defeated Georgia's No. 2 ranked Aarthi Venkatesan in the Oct. 22 final and became the first unseeded player to win the All-American title since Georgia's Lisa Spain captured the inaugural tournament in 1983. Her title run included three wins over players in the top 15 of the WingspanBank.com Rankings.
Among winning the Riviera, Cargill also notched the Flight A singles title at the Carolina Classic hosted by the University of North Carolina.
