WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - For the first time in head coach Jamie Ashworth's seven years at Duke, the Blue Devil women's tennis team went a perfect 16-0 in singles and doubles matches at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Southeast Regional on Friday in Winston-Salem, N.C.
In singles action, Prim Siripipat, Hillary Adams, Susie Abromeit, Julie DeRoo, Katie Granson, Saras Arasu and Julia Smith each notched two singles wins on the day. All seven players advanced to the round of 16 and will play on Saturday.
In doubles play, Duke's ninth-ranked tandem of Kelly McCain/Adams defeated Danielle Petrisko/Shannon Stough (Kentucky) by a 8-2 score to advance to the round of 16, while Smith/Granson downed Taylor Parker/Carmen Torres of North Carolina State (8-1) to advance to the Sweet 16.
All doubles action will pick back up at 8:00 AM on Saturday.
