LOS ANGELES, CALIF. - Duke University freshman Jennifer Zika's bid to advance to the qualifying round of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Riviera All-American ended on Sunday as the Wels, Austria product lost 6-1, 6-4 to Georgia's Natalie Frazier in Los Angeles, Calif.
Zika had won her first two matches in the prequalifying stage, but lost in the qualifying round.
Duke still has three singles players and three doubles teams remaining in the Riviera All-American. Sophomore Julia Smith and junior Saras Arasu will begin playing in the qualifying round on Oct. 7, while ninth-ranked Amanda Johnson received an invitation to play in the main draw, which begins on Oct. 9.
In doubles action, Duke teams of Kristin Cargill/Arasu, Johnson/Tory Zawacki and Zika/Smith will each begin playing on Oct. 7 in the qualifying stage.
