SANTO DOMINGO, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC - Former Duke women's tennis star, Ansley Cargill, earned a bronze medal at the Pan Am Games being held in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, after falling the semifinals in the singles competition on Sunday to Milagros Sequera of Venezuela.
Cargill, seeded No. 2 in the games, fell to third-seeded Sequera, 6-7 (3), 6-1, 6-3, on Sunday. All players advancing to the semifinals before falling earn a bronze medal.
A 2001 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-America, ACC Player of the Year and ACC Freshman of the Year at Duke, Cargill is currently ranked 91st in the Women's Tennis Association rankings.
