PEACHTREE CITY, GA.-- Duke University senior Amanda Johnson fell in the singles final on Sunday in the Adidas Tennis Classic to eighth-ranked Alexis Gordon of Florida, 6-3, 6-4 , at the Peachtree Tennis Center in Peachtree City, Ga.
Johnson, who is listed ninth in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) rankings, saw her string of three straight singles victories come to a close with the loss.
Freshman Parker Goyer picked up two victories on Sunday to claim the Flight B consolation singles title. Goyer defeated Christina Gogol of Louisville (6-3, 6-1) and Page Brown of TCU (6-4, 6-1). On the weekend, Goyer went 5-1 to open her collegiate career.
The Blue Devils will next travel to Pacific Palisades, Calif. to play in the Riviera All-American from Oct. 3-12.
