Deltour Leads Duke At Kitty Harrison Invitational On Saturday

CHAPEL HILL, N.C.--Freshman Clelia Deltour picked up two doubles wins and one singles victory on Saturday to lead the Duke women's tennis team at the Kitty Harrison Invitational in Chapel Hill, N.C.
As a team, Duke picked up five doubles victories in six matches and won three of five singles matches with North Carolina in the afternoon.
In the morning, Duke collected doubles victories in two of three matches against Miami as Katie Blaszak and Saras Arasu defeated Emily Mowery and Staci Stevens, 8-5, while Parker Goyer and Deltour won 8-3 over Jane Anderson and Megan Steiger. The Blue Devil tandem of Tory Zawacki and Jackie Carleton lost, 8-3, to Melissa Applebaum and Caren Seenauth.
Then, Duke swept three doubles matches against Winthrop with Zawacki and Carleton cruising to an 8-0 win over Ana Paula Novaes and Ana Simanca; Kristin Cargill and Jennifer Zika defeated Paula Takahashi and Renata Caceres, 8-5; while Deltour and Arasu won 8-3 over Danielle Moita and Larisa Bekmetova.
The Blue Devils then went up against North Carolina in singles action in the afternoon. Deltour defeated Charlotte Tansill, 6-2, 6-2; Zawacki knocked off Tanja Markovic, 6-0, 6-0; and Goyer registered a 6-3, 6-4 win over Alexandra Jurewitz. In the other two matches, Zika fell, 5-7, 7-6, (10-8), to Sara Anundsen and Cargill lost, 6-4, 6-1, to Jenna Long.
Sunday's action will kick off with doubles against Virginia Tech at 9:00 a.m. and then the Blue Devils will play Wake Forest in singles.
