WILLIAMSBURG, VA.-- On day two at the William & Mary Invitational, senior Saras Arasu, junior Lauren Archer and sophomore Parker Goyer each advanced to the singles finals of their respective flights at the Busch and Adair Tennis Courts in Williamsburg, Va.
In Flight B, Arasu defeated teammate Clelia Deltour, 6-3, 4-6, 6-3 to advance to the singles final against 82nd-ranked Lena Sherbakov of William & Mary. In Flight C, Archer knocked off Rachel Del Priore of Virginia and Goyer knocked off Kristen Dunbar of William & Mary, 2-6, 7-5, 6-4 on Saturday. Goyer and Archer will meet in the finals on Sunday at 12:00 p.m.
In the consolation bracket of Flight A, junior Jackie Carleton defeated Viktoria Konstantinova of Virginia Commonwealth, 6-1, 6-2, and knocked off teammate Kristin Cargill, 6-4, 6-1. Carleton will next take on Marshall's Ashley Kroh on Sunday at 11:00 a.m. In other action, Zika lost to 99th-ranked Candice Fuchs of William & Mary, 3-6, 6-4, 4-6 and Zawacki lost 5-7, 3-6 to 84th-ranked Szilvia Szegedi of Boston College.
Duke's tandem of Deltour and Goyer picked up an 8-4 victory over Dunbar/Yang of William & Mary and will face Del Priore/Pereira of Virginia on Sunday at 8:00 a.m. in the Flight B finals. Also, the duo of Arasu and Zika lost 9-8 to Lam/Larson of Virginia Tech and Cargill and Zawacki fell, 8-2, to Elazar/A.James.
